I had a set of Yakima towers and bars that I inherited from a SIL. One bar
was too short for the ML - but a pipe (1" ?) from Lowes made a one that was
great.

I have a set of Thule gutter towers and two different lengths of
crossbars. Don't think I used them since I got rid of the Plymouth
Horizon before I bought my first Benz.
I have a couple sets of those with bars. Former spouse had them on the SD to
carry kayak and paddle board. They actually work quite well. I think I had them
on the TD for awhile as it does not have cross bars
