A random orbital's buffing head is not driven by the motor but by the off-center motion of the driven head which uses a counterweight so that it doesn't jump out of your hands. My Porter-Cable's motor is variable speed. The experts maintain that you can't burn the paint with a random-orbital but you certainly can with a direct drive unless you make a living using one.
And, random orbitals cost far more that $30. I paid about $160 for mine which included a case and a bunch of attachments. At the MBCA car show today, a crew fom Griot's brought some of their products which they demonstrated on two cars. The first was a very dirty and neglected black SEC and they clayed, polished and waxed one side of the hood to a bright shine (except for the rust pits) making the rest of the car look even worse. I hate to see a potentially nice car owned by the wrong person who is too lazy to keep it looking good. RLE ************** A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
