Transferring anything other than a purely mechanical motor is going to be a pain. You can do a hacked om648, which would be cool, but probably not cheap, as someone has to hack the engine controls. Look up Sound German Automotive on FB. He has it running in a 123 wagon with a 722.6. Cool, but not c

Naw, that's when the fun starts - if it was just "drop it in", it would be boring, everyone else would have done it already, no challenge, no bragging rights, etc. Any project worth doing needs problems to be solved and challenges to be overcome. From the guy who put an Olds V8 in an MGA and drove

Sounds like I should steer clear of the M119 and keep looking for an M116. The injection system on the M116 (and others) can get finicky. I thought maybe I could come up with a common rail system on a newer engine that would still bolt in. Oh well Back to looking for a 420SEL or 380SEL

In the W140 the M119 lower oil pan wraps around the crossmember. You have to unhook the motor mounts, lift the engine, and use a super low clearance ratchet to remove the inaccessible half of the pan bolts. http://www.homedepot.com/p/GearWrench-1-4-in-Drive-Micro-Driver-Set-35-Piece-85035/2046212

Part of the answer: The M119 differed from the M117 in the following ways: The engine block uses asbestos-free gaskets and has better oil flow The cylinder head is now a 4-valve aluminum unit with dual overhead camshafts So, if a M117 was shoe-horned in, the bigger heads of a M119 may not fi
