Did you folks down south ever have the Lada? Essentially an outdated Fiat
made in the USSR. I understand the metal
was so poor that it could not be taken apart and put back together because
the threads would not stand it. We had

My uncle had one years ago. I think it was the fiat 166 they licensed.
Rusty steel but great heaters! (go figure)
He had his for years and liked it.

No Lada, Innocenti, Trabant, etc. The only little cars we got were the
Suzuki Swift/Sprint/Metro/Firefly (although the only time I actually saw
a Firefly I was in Ontario) and the Yugo. Oh, we also had the Ford Festiva
and the B

Yamaha was supposed to design it, they ended up making the whole powerplant.
220 hp at a time when the top Mustang V8 was about 225. Both the Bull and
the Pony would do 145-150mph, but the Pony was rear wheel drive and launched
much better.

I think almost any car made in the past 10-15 years will easily run to over
200.000K given reasonable service. Lots of friends have Japanese cars and
swear by them, even thought they have had their share of problems too. Only
difference being, an new alternator for a Toyota usually costs a lot mor

The SVO Mustang was quite desireable, I really don't know about the XR4ti,
other than the dual rear wing was an attention getter.

Those things were supposed to be fairly desirable performance cars in
their day, in the Euro tradition, no?

Those that I know who drive Japanese cars state that the drive train
will run well over 200K, but the body falls apart around it. Seems
true, based on observation. Compare that to a 123, 124, 126, etc.

That's right, not one, but two. And I saw, in real life, a Scorpio last week.

A guy I used to work for was an Indian/Brit, he bought a Sterling when
they came out. If I recall he had loads of problems with it, but he
stuck with it because it was a Britmobile. I think they were badged as
something else too, just as bad.

I clearly remember a long-term test by one of
there's one at the local U-pick-it...along with a Yugo, which falls into the
same "I thought they were all scrapped" category.

Speaking of cars like that, I caught up to a Sterling (thought they were all
scrapped) in traffic the other day. Very tatty. Friend of mine bought one new.
Reliable as a five-dollar atomic bomb. I do not ask about it.
