A plastic scraper saves the paint. Plan on using a full can of 3M Adhesive 
Remover which is OK on paint.

I did this job on my Porsche a few years back and it was a mess what with the 
OE foam hood pad disintegrating. A new factory pad was about $100 and well 
worth it.
