I got it done, just ended up swapping out one side from one off a parts
car. The other side on the parts car didnt seem any better than then
one on the car it would have moved to. I think I just had 1 really bad
side. Planning on replacing with new soon anyway. Need to do the ball
joints ba
Put the car on jack stands by putting the jack stand in the access
hole in the control arm. You will probably have to compress the
strut some, but not much.
DO NOT leave the control arm hanging free just supported by a floor
jack -- if it slips (which is likely, there isn't a flat spot on
So did you put the car on jack stands, then put a floor jack under the
arm and just lower it enough to get the strut out, or I guess you
probably didnt even have to lower the jack now that I think about it,
strut just unbolts and you can pull it out regardless of control arm
position.

No. Though I have the Klann, and I have replaced both struts in
the 190D, I've never had to introduce these two items to each other.
Floor jack was the only special tool involved in the strut replacement.
