some not. For some
odd reason, those numbers have always fascinated me. But I never for a
moment considered that my having a number checked out from Primenet meant that
nobody else had a right to test it - even if they beat me to a
result.

There simply is no real problem here that is begging for solution. Anyone
is entitled to test any number they want for primality. GIMPS isn't the
prime number police, nor would they have any right to be.

Interesting.
My 400 MHz Celeron, working on 7450277 is getting
0.203 per iteration. This means we only got about 15%
speed increase for an extra 200 MHz, and an improved
architecture. Based on other benchmarks for the Athlon,
I'd hoped to see more of an increase.
Perhaps between 400 and 600 MH
7;t be available
for a couple weeks yet. I believe that one motherboard may
be available this week, but CPU chips won't be publically available
until at least next week.
I emailed one of the test sites that has an evaluation unit, to see
if they would run a Prime95 test, but haven'
mprime,
who could amend the directions? I've had a couple folks asking me for
help, but I don't have a 3.0 or later version, and am not likely to get one.
I hate to have folks not running mprime, just because FreeBSD changed
its ELF handling.
Thanks,
Pa

I
know, I'd guess it would draw a lot of power, but it could work. I don't
know
if any of the motherboard chipsets are set up to drive SRAM as main
memory, so that might be a hurdle you'd have to get over.
