To me, this sounds like a new interface in glibc 2.1.

If it works, you're lucky. Most likely something is broken, but perhaps
mprime doesn't use it :-)

Strange thing EntropiaIP= didn't work for you, though. I'd still say that
the best way to do this, is making an sprime binary with static NSS compiled
in. I think that would solve most of the problems we have with older glibc-
versions. Sure, we would lose some of the advantages of NSS (namely the
ability to use whatever method instead of resolv.conf), but we could always
leave that in in mprime.
