So this seems to be the best answer to why people use XML.
If in doubt, use XML.

Sorry I'm late to the party...
I just finished a (MetaCard) software project where teachers create stacks,
and the stacks are essentially thematic unit plans correlated to our
curriculum. Since we have 30 elementary schools, we decided to set up a
server which could host stacks written by teache
If you palette on startUp then it should work without the user seeing the
change. The only way I know of keeping MC in front of other apps on windows
is using the backdrop.

It sounds like you want your window to physically appear "above" all open
application windows,

OK I know we have been over this a dozen times, but now we are going to make
a move. Trying to keep this a simple as possible:
From previous posts, to get MC running on as a cgi interpreter on a unix
box, I understand that it should be as simple as installing a copy of MC

Hello all,
(on Mac, but is this also possible on Windoze?)
I've made a standalone and I want it to be always in front (also before
other apps) and let it be a palette.
I know I can let the stack palette itself, but I'll first see a normal
window, and that's ugly.
I already have been playing ar

The benefits of XML are many, at least as a format for exchanging data
between applications.
On the flipside, for use within an application I find it hard to beat the
speed and convenience of using MC's custom properties. MC's interpreter is
fast, but not as fast as it's compiled code for gett

one answer to these questions is the following:
changes in the data structure demand less reprogramming if the data model is
in xml.
imagine you remove field 2 - without xml, you have to change your parser...
with xml
you dont have to change anything...
imagine you have a new field:
