One of the posts to the SuperCard list mentioned a neat feature using QT
under OS X: you can load PDF files inside of a Player object and then
(assuming you have the controller showing) page through the PDF using
the controller (or you can do so using a 'set the currentTime' script).

Hi Mark,
That's true for most applications in OS X, but it doesn't appear to be
true for MetaCard. The File menu in MetaCard has a Print Card item and
the Tools menu has a Print Field item, but neither invokes the OS X

Dear sirs:
By reading the messages posted yesterday asking for ways to open PDF files using the default Acrobat viewer, I have found that it's a fairly simple matter if you use the launch command, once the location of the PDF viewer is determined.

How do you open a URL pdf file with Metacard?
If you have a field "url" with several pdf file urls then...
put the selectedText of fld "url" into ff
if ff is empty then exit switch
get char -4 to -1 of ff
put url ff into fld "urlresult"
How do you
it simply place a high-resolution image of the form onto a

This is a bit like a new toy.
Using the method outlined in my previous mail, here's a way to get
various information ab

listed in the Standard Additions file, and is meant to run a

I think I don't quite follow you, because I thought that when you send a
"miscdosc" message, a script is executed. At least so acts MC. Doesn't
"miscdosc" stand for "Miscellaneous: Do Script"?

If you really need to do this without the externals collection, you
could compile a small AppleScript as a standalone application that
reads a file name from an external text file, and then opens that
file with Acrobat. From within your Metacard application, you could

I'm also looking for scripts to open Acrobat on Mac. I think the Windows
