Hi again, I have some spectacular
meteorites ending tonight, some worth over $1000 each listed for one cent.
Be sure to get bids in early, I have people
email me every auction night who complain that they forgot to bid.
Over 60 meteorites, click the links below

Okay ... I know this is not exactly on topic, but there was too much talk
of "steel" for a knifemaker to be quiet so I figured I'd chime in. In
conjunction with another knifemaker, I am having a large quantity of iron
meteorite smelted (induction furnace) with raw iron and 0.7% carbon to make a
Dear List,
Just a quick note to let you know we have over 192 auctions running, most
ending tonight. There is some very good material still bargain priced so
you may want to check these auctions out. We are running auctions for only
a couple of more weeks than we are done for awhile. This is be
Hi Stan,
Cast high alloy steels are widely used for their corrosion resistance in aqueous media
at or near room temperature and for service in hot gases and liquids at elevated and
high temperatures (> 650°C). High-alloy cast steels are most often specified on the
basis of composition using the
No, I didn't mention steel to them. He must have thought that sounded good. I wish he would have picked up better on the difference between a meteor and a meteorite.
All in all not too bad a job for a reporter.
My only question is do they like red or green better in "Chili".

...and to peg the nerd meter, "steel" is iron containing less than 2%
carbon, where gamma iron begins to form at temps greater than between 1333

replaces carbon as the alloying element with the biggest effect on

Hi List.
As far as I know Steel is manufactured . I am not aware of any natural
steel deposits . Although there might be the necessary materials within a
given meteorite to make steel , But I do not think that any meteorite has actual
steel in it.
Then again that's just
Stainless steel, to be totally nerdy about it, is iron with at least 10.5%
chromium. If you look on your cookware there will usually be a measure of
its chromium content - cookware steel quality is measured by how much more
than 10.5% Cr it has. Iron with nickel in it is... well, iron with nickel
This meteor siting is beginning to sound like:

Hm.What's the classification for a "steel" meteorite.
Hopefully this was poetic license by the author, and not a quote from either of our
list members.

very cool Geoff...as always you find a way create art out of meteorites. As Mr.
