Greetings
Last night I listed a bunch of auctions one of which was a Sikhote-alin
with a 2.5x2 cm circular feature in it. It is kind of like what you would
expect of a large troilite except the surface (about 1-2mm lower than the
surrounding surface) appears to be solid metal like the
Dear List Members,
I loaded some excellent specimens this week including 40 kilograms in 1 and
2 kilo lots of unclassified, uncleaned and uncut bulk material at a starting
price of less than 5 cents a gram with a But-it-Now price of less than 6
cents a gram. All 26 lots I loaded last week sold
Dear Michael Blood,
I couldn't disagree with you more on this issue.
When transactions take place between members of the meteorite
community there is a high degree of mutual trust involved.
I trust the people I'm dealing with because I'm sure that the vast
majority of them are intrinsically
I'm afraid I have to agree with Mike Fowler on this and I couldn't state my
rationale any better than what he states below.

Hi Mike and all,
Well, it just goes to demonstrate once more how there are more
than one side to every issue and each side can be right in its own
way and that doesn't necessarily make the other side wrong.
Best wishes, Michael

Sorry, I know this was posted recently, but could someone (maybe even Steve

Dear List,
This coming Monday (US time) an asteroid (check the
net for the size) will pass Earth at a distance of
approximately equal to the distance from the moon to
the Earth. I don`t know the time of passing, but
perhaps someone will have the time. Scopes ready?
Nets ready?
Clear skies,
Thanks Dean,
I didn`t have specific details. I had just received
an SMS message prior to posting and had not had time
to search the web. The Apollo stream may allow us
with some samples of meteorites soon. Hope that they
are small. Best, Dirk...Tokyo

I am not sure if this was on this list but I saw it on
another list and thought it might be of interest.
Clich the image of the moon and you get the nasa video
which is sort of cool.

Hi, Dean, and all,
Yes - that video was posted a while ago, but definitely worth another look!
One question I have about it, though: when you watch it in the larger
video mode, you see the flash, then the fade, and then there is a slight,
single pulse of brightening again before it fades out
I have been corrected by martin horejsi about the number on the la lande
piece.The number on the slice is a nininger number,not a monnig one.I

Hi All,
For those who live in the southwest U.S. and aren't already aware of
it, a Delta 4 Medium+ carrying NRO payload NROL-22 is scheduled to
launch out of Vandenberg at 8:14pm PDT this evening -- a little over
2 hours from now. This is the first launch of a Delta 4 out of
California. Since
Steve, Steve, Steve...
I did not correct you. You are absolutely right that there is a Monnig
number on your La Lande slice.
I was merely pointing out that there is ALSO a Nininger Collection
number painted on it under the Monnig number.
That fact alone should help sell your piece!
Best
I have been informed again, there is a monnig and nininger numbers on
it.Sorry for post.The last one.

1) There was no URL for Steve's web site

2) La Lande has no Monnig number, only a Nininger

3) La Lande has both Monnig and Nininger numbers.
4) Forsale is not a word. He meant for sale.
Did I miss any?

Hi all
Walter the Newbie here again.
The other night, I was looking over the Meteoritical Bulletin Database for
meteorites discovered in Colorado (I live in Golden, Co. which is west of
Denver right in the foothills of the Rockies).
I was looking over the Colorado list that I pulled up from the
Michael,
I don't often comment on this list, but I will this time to disagree.
In this dispute the two sides are McCartney's detailed complaint and Bob

That's not what I or most people would consider two sides to a

Excellent Bernd!! That sounds just like what it is. There is no obvious
troilite showing so maybe it was part of the half that split off this piece.
Thanks for your always informative posts.

Dear Rob and List,
A big thanks to Rob for the information!
Had clouds here in Redondo Beach so it was not as spectacular as usual but
always worth seeing.

Timed this shot just a second or 2 late and then it was lost in the clouds.
Hi, Walter, List
The Catalog gives the find location as Apex Gulch.
It goes on, A single, crusted mass weighing 6.1g was
found during the excavation of an ancient Indian camping
site in the foothills west of Denver, five miles N of Morrison.
This site subsequently became known as the Magic
