Hi, Chris, Michael, Pete, List,
and any interested Martians...
The mass of the air collected by the vane or the
mechanical collecting element of any wind-driven
device is a function of the area A of the collector
times the velocity V of the wind bringing the air
to the vane times the density
Dear Friends,
Recently, a friend of mine prepared three thin
sections for me of some rock samples. However,
about a week after he finished them, it was
noticed that something had gone wrong with the
epoxy, which was used to cement the rock billets
to the glass slide. Over a period of a week,

expected. I really like the tile boxes.

Hi Sterling-
If you give it some more thought, you'll probably figure out that the
potential energy of wind scales as the cube of velocity, not the square.

Hi Sterling,
This particular logic is not necessarily accurate, though t

Where else but here can you learn about what sensations to expect from a
stroll on Mars?

Hi, Pete, Michael, List,
The first thing I thought of was... Mars, just like
you. But the air thereabouts is awful thin. I guess
it's calculator time.
The density (or pressure) of the Mars atmosphere
is only about 1/100 of the Earth's. How a wind "feels"
to an object in its path is depend

That was the most interesting OT post I've seen in the years I've been

Dear Michael and Listoids,
Thanks for this nice one but this comes from a Dutch website.
"Strandbeest" means more or less "Beach animal" And everybody here in
Holland has one of these to play with. Mostly smaller but it's nice to
take 'm all out to a day at the beach and let them play with eachoth
Very cool, Mike, and I see a relevance to the List - lightweight, wind
powered...NASA should drop dozens of these all over Mars for surveillance of
any type!
Cheers,
Pete

you to check it out!
