In city conditions there is too much interference for a pulse detector anyway. Mark, I'm not sure about other VLF detectors but I do know that my GMT has a iron discriminator which tells me how much iron is in the target.  The other problem with gold machines in the city is all the aluminum

Yeah Erik, you can get a feel for a few things, but you'll still spend a ton of time digging trash. Small unweathered iron targets don't usually show up as iron on the GMT. I've used it a lot to hunt parks. Several in my group tried to do it, but we could never really distinguish between
