Hi Doug,
Indeed, 2012 was a busy year for falls. Here is my tally. I may have
missed one or two.
Feb 11, 2012 - "Huangzhong/Xining" (unofficial) (L6 chondrite?) : China
Mar 01, 2012 - "Oslo" (unofficial) (ordinary chondrite?) : Norway (Hammer)

I echo Werner Schroer, we can't thank Bernd enough!
Bernd,
I want to use this opportunity to thank you for your input to the list. It
is always inspiring and I've learned quite a bit from you over the years.

Hello Bernd,
I knew that, but I wanted to see whether the list is paying attention. ;)
No, I missed that fall when I checked the metbull list. My eyes are getting
lazy and it's been like that the whole year. ;)

Hi Abe,
Congratulations with this beautiful fresh find!
With respect to the classification:
Next to standard classification, you might want to consider trying to have
gamma-spectroscopy performed.
Gamma-spectroscopy on very fresh meteorites concerns the measurement of

Happy new year, everyone!
So what is the final tally for witnessed falls in 2012? I know it was a record
setting year, and we may still see new discoveries of stones that fell last
year, but where do we stand at this point?

Hi Larry,
I would have to agree - not much longer than within the last year or 2. If it's
longer than that, I would be surprised because the fusion crust is still pitch
black all the way around.
I want to send it to get classified. Who do you recommend? I have heard that

Hi Larry,
This is a Danby meteorite. My comment was about getting the pictures
submitted to the bulletin.
My point on the pictures is there is not much out there in regards to
the interior view of them. The only interior
pictures I've see was a short paper Bob Verish wrote when the TKW was

Hi Jim,
That looks just like a weathered Mifflin meteorite. Though I've not
seen the interior of the H meteorites from Danby, I'd *guess* this to
be different. I don't see why you would have a problem having this
looked at and characterized, if it is indeed a meteorite.
