Hi Mark, I sat down and rubbed it hard with my thumb, polishing a flat spot, it does indeed, leave black on my thumb, but not as easy as MoS2. I just didn't rub it for long enough before to see if it left a mark on my skin. Kevin. VK3UKF. __ Meteorit

Hi, OK I put up the pics of the streaks, The Molybdenite streak is bluer that the suspect sample. Pic 1 on the left has the streaks mounted in a horizontal fashion. MoS2 is on the bottom. It is bluer than the sample streak at the top. Pic 2 has the streaks mounted in a verticle position. MoS2 is

OK, I had a piece of Molybdenite lying around, and I had a small ceramic crucible. I did the scratch test. The Molybdenite,(molybdenum di-sulphide), obviously left a mark like a soft grey lead pencil. Then I rubbed the suspect Mo sample on it and to my surprise, it left the same, soft looking, s
