This iron weighs 8.5 kilograms. They were told it has sandstone inside by a
geologist. The finder almost threw it away when told it was not a meteorite!

Marcin,
Very good point.
The science needed to be done to verify it.
It's like Sir Ernest Rutherford said. "All science is either physics or stamp
collecting".
I'm glad people take Farmer seriously or this possibly would never have gotten
verified by science.

There is nothing about this meteorite that suggests meteorwrong. solid iron, no
cracks, no holes.
Just a guy who likely has never seen a meteorite declaring that it was not a
meteorite. It seems most geologists dont know a thing about meteorites.

Yep I know this too
But to be honest this specimen is more similar to meteorwrong than to a
typical iron meteorite :)
so maybe someone from Univ. just look at it and say what he say's million
times before "its not meteorite, its a slag".
Just my feeling.
Congratulations Mike.

Stunning "Breja" specimen - April 12 Rocks from Space Picture of the
Day from the Woreczko & Wadi Meteorite Collection.
Are the markings we see the result of landing? Hitting something
hard and sliding across it? Very attractive against the bold fusion
crust.

Many of you have had a similar experience. You take a sample into the local
geology department and most times they don't have a clue or give you the
wrong answer. Most wouldn't know an iron meteorite from an iron concretion.
It gets even worse with stones.

Better gum in those days. Most modern day

?Well, that just about blows away the notion that "vesicles" are an uncommon
feature in meteorites. Oh, I know..." the exception that proves the rule".
[whatever that means]

My guess is that this beautiful chondrule is a composite radial pyroxene (in
the center) surrounded by porphyritic olivine.

Looks like natures version of post impressionist meets modern art,
resembling the Death Star from Star Wars.

Congrats, Bob!
Beautiful shot of a complex, porphyritic "megachondrule".
What makes it so exceptional apart from its size is its
complexity: pyroxene crystals + pyroxene laths/strands.
Thanks to Michael and to Bob for sharing!
