according to the initial release, something like 125
scientists were involved in this study. It looks too
large for a fraud or mistake, but we'll see.
Becker and Poreda did the Permian event buckeyball
analysis several years back.

The deposits are not old enough to have consolidated
into sandstone. this would be a paleosol, a buried A
horizon.

The black impactite layer is pretty amazing - I never
expected it to be that dense or clearly obvious to the
naked eye - my guess is that it extends throughout
other sandstone formations in the region -
