[Mikrotik] Tower site switch

I am looking for a good 'Tik switch for tower sites. We are talking about a backhual and 2-5 Ubiquiti and Canopy APs. I have used a RB750 or a RB450 at some sites with good results but I need more ports. I am looking at the RB493 or RB493AH. I can see the differences as far as clock speed, memory,

You can use 493AH with 15-18V power supply. We had problems with 24V while using during long time in places where temp was going from hot to cold usually. Perhaps we had no luck.. xD I had many of these working for years. thanks, * Martín Ruiz* * * *Ibersystems Solutions, SL* * * Dpto. Redes I

I believe the 493 series have 2 switch chips on them so if you group them correctly you can maximize performance. Across the chips will be a software bridge. It does not run as fast as the switches, but as an interim solution to move to routed should be just fine. You will be able to move a

So this makes it two separate hardware switches with a soft bridge? I hear that some RBs are in effect hubs since they just mirror the ports. Do both the 493 and 493AH have a switch chip? -Ty On Tue, May 22, 2012 at 9:58 AM, Scott Reed wrote: > I believe the 493 series have 2 switch chips on th

Routerboard.com says a single switch chip on the 4943 and 493AH. 2 chips on the 493G. That should mean you get hardware performance across ports 2-9. Port 1 is not on the switch. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Switch_Chip_Features On 5/22/2012 11:06 AM, Ty Featherling wrote: So this mak

Sounds good! What benefit would the AH model get me? I know there is a difference in performance but for as simple as my needs are I think the AH may not be worth the difference to me. -Ty On Tue, May 22, 2012 at 10:22 AM, Scott Reed wrote: > Routerboard.com says a single switch chip on the 494
