Popping sounds with azalia(4) device

I'm getting frequent popping sounds from the azalia device on my system, roughly every 15-30 seconds. I have a pair of stereo speakers plugged in to the green speaker jack, and the pops always seem to alternate channels (one on the left, the next one on the right). The pops do not occur under Wind
