I use the built in dump/restore tools for ufs/ffs. I have never been lead
astray there. You can script around it to make sure disks are there (or to
push across the network).

Try defining your hostname in /etc/hosts
If you have a static address, define it with that address. If it's a
dynamic address, define it as 127.0.1.1
