Kernel panic on fresh 3.8 amd64 after make build

Hi, I get a kernel panic on a fresh 3.8 machine. As far as I can tell all the hardware is functional. The install-process went without any problem whatsover. The only commands issued after the install (upon first boot) are these : cd /usr/src ftp ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/3.8/src.tar.
