Yes, that fixes it.
(Previously, xbacklight would only work once you had dimmed the
display at least one step while in the BIOS.)

I picked up one recently; went with the following options.
- Intel Core i5-3360M
- 128GB SSD (SATA3)
- 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3
