  * Since its inception in the early 1990s, the field of supply chain
    management has become tremendously important to companies in an
    increasingly competitive global marketplace. The term supply chain
    refers to the entire network of companies that work together to
    design, produce, deliver, and service products.

  * In the past, companies focused primarily on manufacturing and quality
    improvements within their four walls; now their efforts extend beyond
    those walls to encompass the entire supply chain.

  *  Supply chain management (SCM) is the oversight of materials,
    information, and finances as they move in a process from supplier to
    manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to consumer.

  * منذ ظهور مفهوم " إدارة سلاسل الإمداد " فى 
اوائل عام 1990 ، أصبح من
    المهم للشركات أن تركز على كفاءة سلاسل 
الإمداد إلى جانب تركيزها على
    المنتجات وتحسين مواصفاتها.

  * إن إدارة سلاسل الإمداد تعني بالدرجة 
الأولى الإشراف وتحسين وسائل
    الإتصال والتنسيق بين الأطراف المعنية بدأ 
من مرحلة الإمداد بالمواد
    الأولية والخامات وحتى وصول المنتج 
النهائي إلى المستهلك بالتكلفة
    المناسبة دون الإخلال بكفاءة سلاسل 
الإمداد .

  * لذلك أصبح مفهوم " إدارة سلاسل الإمداد " هو 
أحد مفاتيح القدرة
    التنافسية بين الشركات وبعضها.
