DisplayManager.DISPLAY.autoLogin
This resource specifies the name of an user that will be logged in
automatically, without displaying the xlogin widget.
You find more things there.

You are probably missing .xsession which should be a symlink to .xinitrc
so possibly:
ln -s ~/.xinitrc ~/.xsession
