be an interesting read. It advocates "Implicit TLS" on port 465 over
either cleartext OR STARTTLS.

I just tested, autoconfiguration worked when listening on submission is
enabled, even with tls-required and auth.

It turns out that when you enter username and password for the SMTP server
in Apple Mail using automatic connection settings (snap1), it only checks
the connection to that server (never tries to authenticate), he
