If you have never been to one of these, or never heard Dr. Thornsberry
speak, it would be worth your time. These rancher folks have some real
concerns about what our government is doing and where they are leading us.
Alice and I plan to attend on the 22 September at the Springfield Livestock
Market Center 6:30 p.m. at

6821 West Independence; Café will be open for meals, desserts and drinks.

*R-CALF USA* President/Region VI Director Dr. Max Thornsberry and R-CALF USA
CEO Bill Bullard will update those present on issues R-CALF USA currently is
working on, including USDA’s National Animal Identification System (NAIS),
country-of-origin labeling (COOL), private property rights issues and
competition problems in the U.S. cattle industry. Part II of each meeting is
a membership workshop session. R-CALF USA Membership Services Coordinator
Laurel Masterson also will attend the meetings.

“We encourage all past and present members, as well as those who’ve been
watching R-CALF to attend,” said Masterson. “These meetings are a great
opportunity for those who have not decided to join R-CALF, but have been
watching, to learn more about R-CALF and meet some of our leaders. We are
very excited about ‘Part II’ of each meeting: the membership workshop
session. Often our meetings are very issue-focused, and we don’t fully take
advantage of having our members together. During the membership workshop
session, we hope to provide tools our members need to help them continue to
support R-CALF.”

All meetings are free and take place in local time.

R-CALF USA is a one-member/one-vote organization. Voting members must own
cattle. Activities carried out by R-CALF USA for the benefit of the U.S.
cattle industry are funded exclusively by the independent cattle producers
who pay their membership dues and by cattle producers, main-street
businesses, and other individuals who participate in and contribute to
fund-raising events.

R-CALF USA works on various issues that affect independent U.S. cattle
producers, such as country-of-origin labeling, livestock price reporting,
animal health concerns, captive supplies and packer ownership of livestock,
as well as various trade agreements.
