Have you also tried the -i input:norm version ?
-i 2:pal would be the second input and the norm would be pal.
You also use the --software-encoding option ?
-i 1:n works, the command was
lavrec --software-encoding -f a -U -a 8 -l 80 -g 352x240 -i n:1 test.avi
