OK Felix, here's something to play with. This patch allows you to
specify the garmin type of a road's RNP using a mkgmap:rnptype tag. You
can then set that tag in a style file when you match some other tag
values.
Like this (silly) example that makes the RNP generated for a footway to
be a zoo:

maybe I was too "criptic" in my first answer.
if you downloaded the package you will find some typ files to start with. They
are in \CreateIMG\Bin\typ\. Internet is also full of other examples (but watch
to the license before distributing derived works).
The typ file called drivemap-
Yes, that's exactly what I meant! Maybe put it into Points file, or a
seperate file so one has an better overview about them. I think that
would be quite useful.

That would be a great feature if you couple it with a POI type that is
not searchable. Of course more icons based on rules should be possibl
Hi,
I just started experimenting with mkgmap and hit a bug I think.
When I try to compile map with tdbfile and use overview-mapname option with
text string 'Bulgaria' instead of 8 digit number mkgmap generate a map without
complaining(?!). The detail .img file is OK, but the overview .img and .t

In that case I think you can use the template.args file you get after
splitting the map with splitter, but I don't have experience on that.

Thanks! But this is not an optimal solution especially when you
distribute the map to other users.

Hi,
In mapsource you can select different maps. I want to compile various
maps. How do I change default name "OSM map"?
For instance I have a different map name for contour, osm-cycle, and
osm-default.

Err, so it is - well it's only the commit comment that's wrong, the
commit itself uses the right word.

By the way, is the option not called "--remove-short-arcs" rather than
--replace...?

For me there are several problems with this option.
1. I think if roads are running on top of each other, there is no clear
rule which one is chosen by tags. There must be some rule because it
will work consistently for some routes, and will not work consistently
for others, even though they
