tried this trick because I thought elements were removed after lines,
polygons and points style are applied. My inspiration is based on the fact I am
able to create contour lines for forest polygons with the lines style.
All my tests are made with Ireland and the bay involved is Clew Bay.

I tested version 4392, the sea tiles are nearly good. I am still not able to
generate small islands in Clew Bay (west coast of Ireland). I met this bug many
years ago. With version 4372, the result is OK but, this is another problem,
routing is not working in BaseCamp.

I compiled my map without my custom dem-poly option and the result is as I
tried to explained in my first message. You can see the result at :

Artifacts are also still present along shorelines. But it seems to be normal :

follow the shoreline. It is a minor problem but it look strange for coastal
areas and isles.
Would it be possible to automatically use the shoreline to clip nicely the DEM
data ?

Transparency is not used only with contour lines. In my case, I use these two
options for my OpenStreetMap layer and it works on BaseCamp and my Garmin
Oregon 650 (and also on my old Etrex few years ago).

The title says it all. I noticed the word appearing on my Garmin before,
when out walking along paths added by somebody else and thinking that it
was a little curious. Now, I find that stiles that I have set nodes to
