[mkgmap-dev] Changing the name of a garmin img map?

2018-09-16 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Hi, I'm not sure whether this is an issue about options or their documentions. I'm using mkgmap to generate maps from openstreetmap for a garmin etrex. Although I am using all possible options as described in the --help=options output to set names, i.e. --description=... --country-name=

As a workaround for the moment I've downloaded map segments from uni wuppertal and combined them with mkgmap, which worked without problems. With all mkgmap versions I've tested an older osm map of Berlin was properly converted into a working garmin map, while a recent one resulted in a map

Strange observation: It works (same script, same software) with my local area (north east of Germany), pfb files downloaded in february 2016. So it seems there's a problem with the http://download.geofabrik.de/europe/france/reunion-latest.osm.pbf map, which seems to cause mkgmap produce a bad

[mkgmap-dev] Incompatibility after recent changes?

2017-06-04 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Hi, since the mkgmap website invites to ask any question: I am currently trying to find the reason why my Garmin does not accept maps generated with mkgmap anymore. I am not too familiar and too deep into mkgmap details. I'm using an etrex 30 (and used an older etrex before), and I am using a

[mkgmap-dev] incompatibility with Garmin eTrex 30

2015-04-17 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Hi, I have a question about Garmin device compatibility. I'm generating maps from openstreetmap for my garmin devices, using the workflow * download several pbf map segments as needed for the next trip (usually from www.geofabrik.de ) * combining them into one pbf file with osmosis *

[mkgmap-dev] newbie question: How to use mkgmap?

Hi, this list is said to be suitable for *any* questions about mkgmap. I'm trying to create my own img files for a garmin eTrex (instead of downloading from the tile server). For some reason it does not work the way I expect, and even by reading all web pages I could find about usage of mkgmap,
