Road class can be tweaked to make the road more preferred. The results
are obvious especially on a longer routes.
Unfortunately if you have too much roads on a higher class the routing
time can be seriously impacted.

Not the shortest syntax you can find, but it works. I use it actually to
add very short like one letter to identify some features.

also (because you'd have to classify them a lot lower than the preferred

As suggested earlier on the list by Marko the empty def: is better for
single line evaluations if you need to add the tag (not something else
based on it like I do to keep the name lenght reasonable)

Matters could be improved by for example making an automatic split for a
road if the segment containing speed-lowering poi gets too long.
Another problem is with Garmin routing. I'd be more interested in
avoiding the low-speed points. However, Garmin does not use road speed
too
not ignored. So, a major road with lots of traffic_calming and
traffic_signals gets preferred. :(

That would work mostly well I guess. However, it is better to fix
mapping errors than try to adjust style for correcting them.

I prefer explicit tags over implied ones though. Perhaps we could mass
correct the locally obvious ones like motorway surface.

I'm geting trouble with following options as well:
--generate-sea=multipolygon,extend-sea-sectors,close-gaps=2000
r1751 did not have the problems and they appeared in r1752.

I'm splitting with splitter r185 and mkgmap r2098 as well as r2100
fails. I used previously r2077 which works ok. I'm using Geofabric
extract for Finland if that matters.
I'm compiling with following options and command lines:
java -Xmx2000M -jar mkgmap/mkgmap.jar --remove-short-arcs
--style-f
I've used layers with different drawing priority (mkgmap
--draw-priority=nn parameter). It seems to work ok for me although this
may not be universal for all devices.
However, this is not the same as a priority for a single line using a
single style.

usefull to get hints in for example roads coming from
roundabouts. (no exit junction hint is needed there but destination hint
would make routing directions sometimes easier if one got "towards that
an that" -type text)
Any ideas if this could be an easy and usefull improveme

Confirmed, I'm getting a lot of these as well (on 4168, those did not
appear day or two ago in previous versions)

That approach based on POIs does not work too well. You have no idea if
you lower the speed for a short segment or a long one, it just depends
on eg. if there are traffic lights on long or short segment. Same
problem with other poi types like crossings.
BTW, For another message suggesting lowe
Garmin routing seems to be like it uses only major roads (based on route
class) to figure out any longer routes and uses small roads only in the
beginning and end to get to the larger routes.
This is a pain in bicycle routing because it can direct to large roads
even when wanted. It seems if t

So far I've found a bunch of links that are not working and Typwiz 5,
which is a bit expensive to buy for a single task.

ad_speed=1 are taken for route priority,
I'm interested in that one too! (even if my results were that speed is
not that important. However, I had speeds 0-2
