It sounds to me almost like they are running under different users,
but it may be something else entirely.

There is at least one QT bridge for SCIM that has to be installed.
Mnemosyne uses QT3.

I'm guessing this is an interaction problem with SCIM and Qt (the toolkit
Mnemosyne uses). I'm not sure there is anything under my direct control I can
do about this.

(using the supplied SCIM system) but I cannot activate this within

the icon. Mnemosyne ran perfectly from the Terminal, and from the
Desktop Menu. Running from the icon leads to the 'Cannot find ...'
message, and subsequently running from Terminal or Desktop Menu fails
to find the Default.mem. Re
