i received this last week in response to the modest mouse poll results (http://www.best.com/~drumz/mp/artists/modestmouse/view.cgi).. thought it was interesting.. i'd like to hear what yall have to say. _________________________________________________________ why does everybody consistently like wussy songs over songs that really rock? I mean this as a totally serious question. First, let me re-phrase the above statements, they aren't "wussy" per-say... but they're not what modest mouse is GOOD at. Any band can put out some soft and sweet song with synthesized violins in the background and it makes everybody say "awww isn't that sweet". Don't get me wrong! Cause I like those Modest Mouse songs too, it's just that their best work is in songs like "Trucker's Atlas," "The fruit that ate itself," "convenient parking," "Break Through" and especially songs like "Lounge." Nobody can make songs like that, except modest mouse. So, why? Why don't these songs get recognized? Can you help me understand why? It's not just with modest mouse, ALL popular music seems to have to be somewhat slow and "sweet." Talking Shit about a pretty Sunset is a cool song, it is, but it's not as unique as their rough stuff. Modest Mouse is a ROUGH band! why don't people like their rough songs... it makes me cry, oh well. Sorry. Sorry, this is finals week for me, and i pretty much latch on to anything that i have passion about. again, i'm sorry, this was silly, but i'm sending this message anyway. angst must be heard. ________________________________________________________________ eh?
