I initially disliked Sublime. Thought the self titled record was boring and unmotivated. Had a friend play the 40 Ozs to Freedom record for me one day and heard the opening sample. It was the line "Punk rock changed our lives..." off of Minutemen's Double Nickles on The Dime record. After that, I gave them a few more highly critical, but more respectful listens and found that I enjoyed a bit of what they do. The dead dog has been beaten to death, but that doesn't mean that there still isn't some magic in what they did.
