Come to think of it, this is exactly what I did on my RedHat 7.2 system -- grabbed a Perl 5.6.1 RPM without noticing that it was for RedHat 7.3. It installed fine, and Perl worked okay, so why not? Thanks for straightening this up, Eric -- as Chip said, everything should have worked fine with the Perl RPM if I had done it correctly. Thanks. :)
