strange problem with tied STDIN

I say strange because i have the next read(STDIN,$buf,$apache_headers-{'Content-length'}); and it works (when in POST method). But if i write $r-read($buf,$apache_headers-{'Content-length'}); then i get no $buf, no data. I've read some comments about this
