Apache is not listening on port 443

Hello list, I have a problem in using apache 1.3.17 with mod_ssl 2.8.0 and open_ssl 0.9.3. I did exactly what is described in www.modssl.orgs/example to generate the web-server. I started it with ./apachectl startssl but I cannot (netstat -l) see a listening server on port 443. I found out that a
