Self-hosting WebAPI doesn't fully work in Mono at the moment. Last time I
tried it (with Mono 3.0.6 I think), the app could process a single request
before it appeared to lock up and stop handling requests.

Have you tried running your application on Mono? You could try set it up
and see how much of it works as-is...
