I don't know if you ran into the same problem as I did, but I found that it's not actually broken, just very confusing. After you first sign up, it implies that an email will be sent that you should use for verification... but no email arrives. *HOWEVER*, if you then try to log in, it gives you a useless screen where you can request a verification email, which is then sent immediately. After clicking on the link in that email, there are some suspicious browser caching and/or cookie issues, but if you log all the way out and back in, it will work. I mostly stumbled on this by accident, or I would have thought for sure that it was broken.
