This was a problem with my hosts file :-(
I am very sorry. The two - called identical - written programs differs in
accessing the db server by name. The machine - a VM - was restored from
scratch and contained a mismatch between hosts and postgres config.

This was some time ago and the code has been updated several times since.. So no code snippets this time. But I can tell you the sql was less then 0.5 seconds in executing from pgAdmin3 Disabeling log4net helped...

The namespace `Npgsql' can not be found (missing assembly reference?)(CS0246)
I could not find the Npgsql.dll on my system so I downloaded the latest
beta from the GBorg site and did this:

I've just upgraded to the beta version of mono. Some of my programs are
not compiling anymore because the assembly for Npgsql can't be found.
Please tell me what should I do in order to make my Npgsql programs able
to compile again.

Since I upgraded using red-carpet I didn't notice that now Npgsql has
moved out to other RPM (mono-data-postgres in this particular case).
Someone told me that this break up into modules is related to patents,
although to me, this looks more like a simple

handling non Unicode encodings.
Now this is fixed in cvs.
Please, grab the latest cvs code with the fix and give it a try.
