I don't understand why the config files of XSP and mod-mono-server are with the tests. As Gonzalo said, they must be with the exe file. Since I remembered when I was configuring the service for daemontools, we can use some environment varables to configure the application we run. Is it a good idea to have some env-vars for tell xsp/mod-mono-server the port, application, root, etc ?
