Allen,
If you haven't ever enjoyed a film with subtitles, then you haven't really
seen much. The masterworks of Fellini, Kurosawa, Melville, Godard, De Sica,
Leone, Bertolucci, Juenet, Fritz Lang, Murnau, Clouzot, Inarritu, Bergman,
Yimou, Truffaut, Dassin, Wenders, Herzog, not to mention
If foreign films are so great why don't they make them in this country? Just
kidding :)

The main problem I have with subtitled movies is that I prefer to
watch a movie rather than read a movie. That said, it's definitely
an acquired skill that becomes easier -- but never as easy as watching
a film produced in your native language.

Thanks so much, Alan. We're very proud of these writers. They worked their
butts off. (preposition ending---YIKES!)

The characteristic about both films: Letters from Iwo Jima and Apocalypto is
that they are much like silent films and you can follow them easily. There
isn't heavy dialogue and yet it has made both films quite compelling.

Yes, it is very sad about him. It seem's that as I am getting older more and
more favorites are passing away. The NEW stars can't match the older
legends. When I heard he had passed away the first image I thought of was from
Young Frankenstein. He will be missed.
