It appears that lower fare 50s Sci-Fi/Horror poster are holding their prices
while better titles are increasing in value during the last few years. Many
titles hold their prices or more accurate, actually declining in value
considering inflation. I also believe that there is much more supply
One last word on Horror/Sci-fi,
Taking a cue from Evan I did a quick count and out of the 194
Horror/sci-fi lots (up through the 50s as that is what most people refer to
when speaking of the "invincible" horror/sci-fi genre) I came up with
53 lots that sold (or passed) for below estimate (27%), 83
single or double sided.

Prices, Prices, Prices.
I am just wondering if anyone out there still remembers what their
favorite horror or sci-fi poster is?
Not because of the price but because of the image.
My favorite is the 1931 Dracula Style A half sheet.

Hi everyone,

Yes you are wrong in understanding that Dennis paid $85K for the Bride half
sheet. But you are correct in understanding he paid $33K for the Black Cat
half sheet that just sold for a record $89K.
And yes it looks as if all the results you posted were from this past
weekend's auction. But I'm not

Thanks very much for sharing what you know about this unusual subject. I too
have real trouble with the "posters were printed solely for use in New Zealand,
but needed ratings blacked out and added stamps" theory, because it doesn't

First off, I was NOT referring to the super-expensive items (but am I wrong in
understanding that Dennis had paid $85,000 for the Bride half-sheet?; if so,
his estate lost a large amount to that one) . There are only a handful of
people who buy those. I was referring to the kinds of posters most
Hi Phil and MoPoers
I'm not sure that I entirely agree with you on this although I think its hard
to be completely definitive. Let me preface all this by saying that either Phil

plus that price of 6K quoted was including that whopping 19.2% -22%
fee, which can boost the final price paid significantly.
