I don't know about anyone else, but I am becoming very weary of these
year-long publicity campaigns for these supposed blockbuster films... Perhaps
the same less-than-expected results will reward the unceasing hucksterism behind
this "event" as greeted MI III when it finally... after all the push, push,
push... made it to the screen? By this point, I am so tried of hearing about DA
CODE that I can't wait for the thing to be released and drop out of sight 3
weeks later, just so I don't have to hear about it anymore. Since they are now
only waiting 90 days to release to DVD, I see even less reason than ever before
to make the trip into town, pop for first run tickets and sit in uncomfortable
seats for hours. Seems like, between the year-long over-hype vs. the on-screen
under-reality of most modern films, coupled with hardly any wait to view it at
home, that they've finally managed to ruin Going To The Movies.
