Interesting debate on reserves and whether it would
advantageous or foolhardy to a prospective bidder.
When viewing solely from a bidder's angle, I agree
that it is probably a waste of time, with a few
exceptions.

I understand your situation but you are both seller and buyer. I am a buyer.
Ebay, with the best offer, has established a negotiating situation in which
the seller holds all the cards. The seller can list an item at an enormous
price and then wait for people to make offers. The
