An interesting item at Heritage's Sunday auction:  the audience for D.W. 
Griffith's anti-war masterpiece was eroded by the very thing the film promoted 
- peace.  By the time Griffith's film was released, the armistice had been 
signed and people worldwide were tired of war - even on the screen.
