I wish I could join the 'great buy' posts, but while I had several bids in this

ended up as underbidder on a few things, but that was about it...

Werewolf of London Insert Poster brings $47,800 to lead $1.3 million+ Heritage
Auction Movie Poster Sale
Thanks to all of our bidders and consignors for a very successful July auction.
Consign now to our upcoming November 18 and 19 movie poster auction!!
Heritage Auctions did $1.3+
What I see that is exciting is that there were 1220 bidders! Thats
fantastic. With the economy the way it is, it is hard to know just where
our hobby stands. However, I think that 1220 bidders is a good sign of
health.

You are right Jim. I had tons of customers that were bidding on this
auction and many of them won their bids, even some of the high end titles
Perhaps the underbidder was N.P Gresham.

I wish there had been one less bidder, so I
might have gotten my item at an increment or two
lower than I did. Mine came
Congratulations to Heritage. A strong auction is good for the hobby, and the
number of bidders
is encouraging uptick. I bought about $9000 of material, all of it good,
including those stunning standees
from GIANT. Have we ever seen those before?
As a dealer, I support Heritage, and all
I agree with Kirby.
I was lucky enough to get that Double Indemnity
wc for my Chandler collection. It's one of the
rarer pieces to find (all the Chandler wc's are
tough) and it was the first unrestored one I'd
seen that had great color.. Sadly, I lost a
couple other items I needed.. but
in the hobby.
Congratulations to them and to anyone else bucking the
economy.Neil

I'm happy to accept that this practice is probably almost entirely
benign, but it potentially gives off the wrong impression and
creates unnecessary opportunities for doubt and innuendo where there
needn't be any.
I agree with all of Neil's post, most especially this part. However
I'll add,
My first auction was 49 years ago.
One thing has never changed:
Yer pays yer monies and yer takes yer chances

I'm happy to accept that this practice is probably almost entirely benign,
but it potentially gives off the wrong impression
where it becomes tricky with posters is in cases where you have the
'opening bid' by the house win an item which establishes a value
precedent for a poster
Neil
this is supposed to happen. If a poster is opening at 1000 and the
reserve is 2000, the house's final bid is supposed to be no
for $1 each.
I left the auction empty handed, but I did notice the people and the action,
which left a heckuva impression.
