For the past two nights we have had the pleasure of experiencing the local Ipic theater at the new Scottsdale Quarter development. It has been a soft opening (not really open to the public yet) with free premium food, free drinks, and free movies. It opens officially later this week. It is awesome!! A beautifully designed modern theater with 8 screens, each one sits about 90 people. All have premium and gold oversized leather seats. The gold seats are in the balcony and fully recline. They even serve you food up there. We preferred the premium seats that were closer to the screen. It will not be cheap when it opens, I think they said seats are 15 and 25 bucks, lower if you are a member. All seats are reserved seating that you can choose online. They will have all new current releases when it officially opens, but we just saw SALT and INCEPTION. Both were shown on a digital projector, and I would expect that newer release will also be digitally shown, but I don't know for sure. There is a large bar and lounge (very cool and hip) in the front lobby for hanging out/mingling before the show starts. I'm not sure this is the best time to be opening an expensive place like this with this economy, but I really hope it does survive and do well.
