Hello MPB sellers.
We have some announcements & requests of all of you.
First of all, I have been informed by the programmer that he will
finish the current version of the site update this weekend, and after
beta testing, the new site will be live. The new site is much more
functional, not to mention better looking.
Second, the first Special Event Auction is going to start this Sunday
at 12noon.
This auction is more of a "mini" special event as there is nothing
incredibly expensive, but there are many desirable pieces that will
all auction off on May 21 and every last poster is starting at $19.99
with no reserve!!
Among the highlights of the auction are posters like
Conflict 1sh 1945 with Bogart
Greatest Show on Earth 1sh 1954
Blue Dahlia 1946 lobby cards
a number of Bowery Boys & Blondie 1 sheets & 3 sheets
Behave Yourself, 1950 with great Alberto Vargas art
Mothra 1 sheet 1964 Toho horror
House of Horrors 1950's Realart 1sh rerelease
Roman Holiday & My Fair Lady Japanese posters
Two Years Before the Mast 1945 lobby cards
Sergeant York 1940 lobby card
Rope of Sand 1949 3sheet
315 posters and each and every item will start at $19.99. Here are
thumbnails of every poster in this special auction

You can say that this is a "test" auction. Can I get enough bidders
to get involved in a single event and sell posters for values that
will both please bidders & sellers at the same time??
So here's where all of you come in....
the current ad campaign is 6 full page ads in full color promoting
the July 30th special event auction.. But there is a line in the ad =
"plus the thousands of posters listed each week", that I need some
help with..(see the current ad)
http://www.electro-comicsonline.com/ads/special_event_july2006.pdf
Last week I asked every seller to get stuff listed on the site and
many of you answered the call.
I wanted to get over 2000 posters & items listed on the site to break
that barrier and we almost made it. At one point last week, there
were 1937 items listed.. just a small number short of the 2000 listings total.
So first of all this is another request for all of you to list as
many posters as you can - both relists (which are incredibly EASY for
you to put up) and how about some new listings also. I can tell you
that each day new members are signing up and almost every new member
has bid on something within a few minutes of registering.
But that's not all.. POSTERS ARE SELLING!!!
Unfortunately, while the programmer is updating the site - I cannot
pull a list of posters sold AND their prices, but I can tell you what
posters I have sold in the past month...
From Hell it Came linenbacked 3 sheet $679.99
Shadow of a Doubt linenbacked 1 sheet $729.99
Snow White linenbacked UK quad 1970's $199.99
Return of Chandu lobby card $49.99
Half Shot at Sunrise 1930 lc $59.99
Virginian 1935R lobby card $49.99
those are just a few of the results I have gotten.. But I am not the
only person who has sold posters... When I got the site, sales were
just about $58,000 in the 2 years before ownership changed. In the
last 45 days.. MoviePosterBid.com has sold just over $10,000 worth of
posters and almost every dealer who has had stuff listed has sold
something. But here is the key
In order to have good sales.. you have to list lots of posters! But
that really isn't a secret is it? Also, to sell posters.. you must
start them at prices that are seen as fair by the bidders. That way
you can sell lots of posters as opposed to just selling one or two
expensive listings. I have sold almost 100 posters in the last couple
months, and I am very satisfied with my sales in both selection & value.
Also, I have seen some sellers who also list on eBay start the same
posters at way lower prices than they have the item listed on MPB..
While I understand not wanting to sell something too low.. If getting
$49.99 on ebay was satisfactory.. why do you need to sell it for
$149.99 on MPB?? This is a counter productive action. If bidders see
what I saw, it might turn them away from the site. That isn't good.
I'm not asking anyone to take a beating.. just to understand what I'm
saying. I don't expect you to run a $19.99 auction like I am (and
will be every month).. Just to give the fans something to hope for
when they see an item listed.
By the way, seeing as next Sunday I expect many bidders at the site
at one time.. I think it wouldn't be a bd idea for everyone to list
many posters & cash in on their presence. There could really & truly
be lots of money available next Sunday (the 21st)..
Help yourself out. make money, list posters & have fun.. and don't
forget to bid in the Special Event
thanks for reading
